Cheshire Cheese Company Croutons

Our Cheshire Cheese Company cheese croutons are idea on salads, soups, or as a delicious snack!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, softened
  • 100g Cheshire Cheese Company cheese of your choice (e.g., Old Hag Cheddar, Jerk Spice, Black Bob, Smokewood), grated.

Method

Lay out the sourdough bread slices on a clean surface. Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Place the grated cheese of your choice on the unbuttered side of one bread slice, then cover it with the other slice, buttered side facing out.

Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the assembled sandwich in the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.

Once the sandwich is grilled to perfection, remove it from the pan and let it cool for a minute or two on a cutting board. This will allow the cheese to set slightly.

Using a sharp knife, cut the grilled cheese sandwich into 3/4 inch cubes.

Your grilled cheese croutons are now ready to be served as croutons on salads, soups, or as a delicious snack!

Feel free to experiment with different Cheshire Cheese Company flavours like Jerk Spice, Black Bob, or Smokewood to add a unique twist to your croutons.
