Coronation Grazing Platter

What better way to celebrate the coronation of King Charles than by making a grazing platter full to the brim with delicious Cheshire Cheese and produce made right here in our beautiful County.

Laura Billington, of Graze Cheshire has collaborated with The Cheshire Cheese Company on this special occasion sharing her top tips to make the Kings Coronation one full of tasty treats that you can share with your family and friends.

To start, choose red white and blue colours for your Grazing Platter that will make your platter pop with the traditional colours of the British flag.

I have used three Cheshire Cheese Company Cheeses here.  The first being, their special edition, ‘Kings Cheshire’ this is a beautiful Traditional Cheshire, that is so creamy and crumbly. Secondly, the flagship ‘Black Bob’ which is their tasty mature Cheddar and lastly, the ‘Jamaican Jerk sauce spicy Cheddar’ I chose this one for the red coloured wax and its also a really good talking point cheese, which every good cheese board or grazing board needs!

When making your Grazing Board, choose a board, plate or serving tray that is fit for a King! I have chosen a vintage serving platter as it adds that little touch of luxury and the white makes the colours pop. You can pick up platters and trays in your local antique shops such as Dagfields Craft & Antiques in Nantwich or Knutsford Antique Centre, Knutsford.

Cut your cheese into various shapes and spread it around your board. I have kept the ‘Kings Cheshire’ whole in order to showcase the great label and cut the Black Bob into triangles, and I have kept the red wax on the Jamaican add that pop of colour.

Choose fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and table grapes, cherry tomatoes and figs that all add to the theme. Choose premium meats, such as this bresaola or Cheshire salami from The Smokehouse, Wilmslow.  I have added some sour cream and chive dip and some simple crudites of celery and broccoli.  Garnish your board with colour co-ordinated edible flowers or any herbs from your garden.

Why not pair your platter with a crisp traditional beer from Wincle Beer Company Ltd, Macclesfield or pick up a bottle of wine from your local wine merchant?
